Where can I buy a candle?

You can purchase candles via this website. With every candle you purchase you can leave a memory message which will be displayed in our online messages page.

If you prefer a traditional paper certificate rather than leave an online message, you can get your candle certificates from early June from the Slipway shop by the Cobb, Lyme Regis Bookshop in Broad Street, the Visitor Hub at the Jubilee Pavilion on the seafront in Lyme Regis and and from Uplyme Garage.

Which businesses are sponsoring Candles on the Cobb 2025?

This year’s event is organised by the Rotary Club of Lyme Regis, supported by numerous local organisations and generous businesses. Primary sponsors include The Slipway shop by the Cobb, Lyme Bay Holidays, Rockfish and Natural and Welsh Candles, who have once again donated the candles. Love Lyme Regis / Visit Lyme Regis are the event’s digital media partner, and Advantage Digital Print is supporting as the official print partner. There are lots of other local businesses supporting the event, see more at candlesonthecobb.com/sponsors

Which organisations are benefiting from the funds raised?

The proceeds of Candles on the Cobb 2025 will be split between local good causes (50%), Prostate Cancer UK (25%) and Macmillan Cancer Support (25%).
Find out more on our beneficiaries page.

If I buy a candle how will I know where it will be positioned?

Each candle is numbered and you can view the candle map to get an approximate location for where your candle will be positioned during the event.

What time does the event start?

Lighting of the candles is expected to start around 8pm on 28th August so you will need to allow plenty of time to arrive in Lyme and find a suitable place to park.

Where is best to view the event?

The best vantage point will be from Langmoor and Lister gardens which offers an elevated view of the Cobb.

Will I be able to go on to the Cobb and see my candle?

Unfortunately not, only lighting volunteers will be permitted on the Cobb. Each candle purchased is numbered so you will be able to see where your candle will be positioned on the night using the candle map.

Can I light my candle?

All candles are placed in position on the Cobb by our group of volunteers. Our volunteers, which include members from Lyme Regis Sailing Club, Scouts, local RNLI crew, Powerboat Club members and others, will begin lighting the candles at around 8pm on the night of the event.

I unable to attend, will I be able to see the event?

Yes, the event will be filmed and shared to our social media, website, YouTube and various other social media channels.

There are also Lyme Regis webcams where you should be able to get a live view of the event.

Who is organising the event?

The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Lyme Regis with assistance from other local organisations.
